Lisa Ann Thomas was born in Orlando, Florida, and raised in Gotha, Florida.  She attended the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida, where she studied Journalism and Communications, with a minor emphasis in Philosophy. In 2006, while still in college, Ms. Thomas began her work on behalf of plaintiffs at a Gainesville-based personal injury law firm.  Ms. Thomas also volunteered as a Guardian ad Litem (a court-appointed child advocate) for the 8th Judicial Circuit.

After college, she returned to the Orlando area, where she worked for a corporate and estate planning firm before returning to plaintiffs work in 2009.  From 2009 through 2016, Ms. Thomas worked as a paralegal assisting in the recovery of damages for victims of catastrophic injuries that resulted from medical malpractice, car accidents, negligent skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities, and pharmaceutical drugs.  Some of these pharmaceutical drug cases include litigation in the Southern District of Illinois against the Bayer Corporation for injuries sustained by women taking the Yaz and Yasmin birth control, and litigation against the New England Compounding Pharmacy, Inc. in the District of Massachusetts for injuries sustained by victims who were injected with steroids that were contaminated with mold and/or fungus.  Her passion for the steroid cases concerning the multifaceted failures to regulate compounding pharmacies and the failures of the standard of care by the doctors and hospitals ordering and administering these steroids actually inspired the basis for Ms. Thomas’ law school thesis.

Ms. Thomas attended law school at Florida A&M University in Orlando, Florida, from 2012 through 2016 while working full-time for Colling Gilbert Wright & Carter.  While at FAMU, Ms. Thomas was on the Dean’s List and received two book awards – one in Race and the Law and the one in Pre-Trial Practice.

In September 2016, Ms. Thomas was admitted to the Florida Bar and joined Colling Gilbert Wright & Carter as an attorney.  She is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), Florida Justice Association (FJA), the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA), and the Orlando Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.

Ms. Thomas is also a volunteer Law Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America, and she serves on the Executive Committee for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk Orlando.
